Some questions & answers.

How and when do I pay for my booking?
We take a 1/3 deposit on booking and the balance 8 weeks prior to arrival either by bank transfer or cheque. These are normally non-refundable unless, with sufficient prior warning, we are able to re-book for that same period. In exceptional circumstances, and at our discretion, we may be able to transfer the booking to another period. We recommend that you consider taking out a holiday insurance with a reputable company, as you would with any holiday booking.

Is there a damage deposit?
A damage deposit of £250 is taken at the time of booking and is refundable two week after departure, subject to any deductions for breakages, damage, or additional cleaning.

How many guests can we bring?
The property has ten en-suite bedrooms with seventeen beds in total, sleeping a maximum of 25 people (plus one baby cot and a high chair, additional ones may be brought with you).
No extra guests (except babies in cots) can be accommodated except in special circumstances and only by prior arrangement.

Can we bring pets?
Unfortunately not. We do not accept any pets into the guesthouse, that way, people with pet allergies know that the house they are staying in is a pet-free environment.

What about linen and towels?
All the beds are made up with linen for you and this does not need to be removed on departure.
We do not provide towels (except tea towels in the kitchen) so please bring your own.

What is the position regarding heating and lighting?
Both are included in the original cost.
The whole property has underfloor heating which is programmed to an ambient temperature. If you find parts are too hot or too cold please let us know so that we can change it.
In addition, the multi-fuel stove in the lounge has logs or coal in the winter months for the first night. After that supplies are easily bought in Cockermouth or Keswick.

When are the arrival and departure times and where do we pick up the keys keys?
Arrival time is 5pm and departure time 10am. The latter is very important as in many instances we have a full turn-around to complete on the same day.
We will be there to greet you on arrival and give you a tour of the property and facilities so that you know where everything is and how it works.
Many guests have food delivered on their first evening from ‘on-line’ supermarkets. Tesco and Asda are frequent suppliers.

Can you recommend…?
Yes we can!
If you need some help with ideas of what to do, where to walk- from high-fell routes to shore-line strolls, and where to sample local food and drink, just ask before you come or during your stay.
We’d love to help.
